INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE AND ENJOY

The minimum capacity required in the USB stick is 4 GB

The file is compressed with bzip2 ... To decompress it we can type into a terminal

bunzip2 Musix-20USB.img.bz2

I will return the Musix-20USB.img file that has 4 GB in size.

Now we have to write that file to the USB stick ... Connect the pendrive and with the commands "fdisk-l" or "dmesg" we can check the pendrive in the system. It will generally be named as "sd[az]" but in systems with very modern kernels can be "ub[az]". Verify this with certainty because the write operation of the image will delete ALL data on the target device ... if we are wrong we can eliminate ALL of the contents of any hard drive ... PLEASE CAREFULLY.

The target device must be unmounted. If our system automatically mounts the flash drive must be umounted before the next instruction. Of course: what we do now will replace the contents of the pendrive with MUSIX image... if there is something to keep ... backup it before. Then, we type:

dd if = Musix-20USB.img of = / dev / sd [az] # or name that gave you the "dmesg" or "fdisk-l"

This copies the image to the pendrive ...

Now it is advisable to run:

gparted / dev / sd [a-z]

And check that there are two partitions ... a fat32 one labeled "MUSIX_LIVE" and the flag "boot" enabled and other one labeled "live-rw" ext2 rw ... If for whatever reason these labels or the flag were not (very very rare ... something went wrong), just do them. If your flash drive has more than 4 GB is necessary to extend the ext2 partition to complete the flash drive space ...

If all went well, you can boot with the pendrive ...

Some issues

Each PC has a different system bios to enable booting from USB. Some have a button that activates a "boot menu", others recognize the USB stick as a disk and there is more to alter the order of the boot disks and unfortunately there are some in which you can not. I hope this is not the case for you.

If not start the X can be several things ... On some cards need to use the cheatcode "NOPAT" boot ...

Network

The network is automatically detected (at least on the machines where I tried ...). Connectivity is managed by nm-applet is started on every desktop ... If your connection is wireless show you available networks and will ask for the password ... once connected will ask another key ... this is the key deposit.

Persistent!

And finally: The usb is persistent!!! That means you can install applications, change settings, and you will have them in the next boot ... It means you can customize. Enjoy!!!

NOTE

The musixuser password is "live"
