We have released a new version of the 100% free operating system for musicians, graphic designers, video makers, artists and all kinds of users. Musix 2.0 beta1 Live DVD can be tested on your PC without installing anything on your hard disk, then if you wish, you can install it.
This remastered edition by José Angón aims to provide a testing system based on the stable Debian GNU/Linux 5.0 Lenny. Several packages were updated and builded by friends of the Musix project, such as the Linux-libre Kernels 2.6.27-1 and 2.6.29-1, which were revised to improve mount actions.
It includes new versions of programs for musicians compiled by the spanish guitarist Carlos Pino: Ardor-i686 2.8-1, jackd 0.116.1-4, lmms-vst_0.4.4, lv2core 3.0 qtractor_0.4.1-1, rosegarden_1.7.3-1 , slv2 0.6.4, azr3-jack 1.0.3-1, fluidsynth 1.0.9-1, nekobee 0.1.8test-1, rasqal-utils 0.9.16-1, Redland-utils 1.0.8-2, Rubberband, sk1 0.9.0-1 (graphic design). As a new addition we included GNOME to the supported desktops: KDE, Xfce4, LXDE and Icewm+Rox.

La idea es que nos sirva en equipos que no tenemos lectora de dvd. Luego se ha dado prioridad a los paquetes que han sido aportados por los colaboradores (Carlos Pino, Gilberto, etc...).
No han podido entrar todos los que hay en la Musix-2-0-Beta1_dvd, evidentemente por el espacio. Pero no hay problemas para adquirirlos porque, esos que faltan, están todos en los repositorios. Así que si los necesitamos siempre podemos usar el: apt-get install
Eso sí, se ha procurado mantener la misma configuración que en el dvd, para que no haya problemas al instalar estos paquetes que nos faltan.
Se ha podido mantener el escritorio Lxde, el Icewm+Rox+Pcmanfm y como novedad va el Blackbox para equipos con menos recursos.
Los kernels van revisados, son:
linux-image-2.6.27-libre-rv2 y linux-image-2.6.29.4-libre-rv1.

Known issues
- After installing Musix 2.0, the login manager will say:
"Autentication musixuser A critical error occurred Please look at logfiles for more informaion or contac your system administrator."
Just dont worry! :)
Log in with your user and pass and you will be into your desktop, we will fix it in the next releases.
